MikroTik courses in Mallorca Hotelinking

Hotelinking launches the only MikroTik courses in Mallorca for network engineers and technicians

The training aims to fill a need in the sector and a gap between theory and practice, since this is the most widely used technology in the hotel ecosystem nowadays.

Most tourist properties are implementing routers by Latvian hardware and software manufacturer MikroTik in their networks. Its products are used worldwide in millions of systems and for this reason it is key that technical staff in hotels are trained to ensure that their property’s set up and networks work properly.

To help in this task, Hotelinking has specialised in this technology, given its standardisation in the tourism sector, offering its high knowledge on the subject in two MikroTik courses in Mallorca: a more basic one (MTCNA) and a more advanced one (MTCSE). The first session will take place from 20 to 22 March 2023, while the second will be held on 23 and 24 March 2023.

Carlos Otín, Senior Network Engineer at Hotelinking and the only certified MikroTik trainer in the Balearic Islands will be teaching the course, aimed at engineers, network technicians and operators who wish to implement and support corporate networks and who now have the possibility to get their first MikroTik certification without leaving Mallorca. “There is no point in a hotel having a state-of-the-art system if the staff members are not properly trained,” Otín explains. Connectivity is key for hotels.

Goal of the MikroTik courses in Mallorca

The first MikroTik course given by Hotelinking at ParcBit in Mallorca leads to the basic MikroTik certification (MTCNA). The aim is to make the most of all the advantages and options offered by this Operating System. With a duration of 24 hours spread over three days, participants will learn to:

  • Provide an overview of RouterOS software and RouterBOARD products.
  • Set up MikroTik routers, provide basic maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Have a solid foundation and valuable tools to manage a network.
  • Provide these services to businesses and create enterprise-level solutions with MikroTik equipment.

The course will be focused on hands-on training with a lab environment that emulates MikroTik routers to gain experience as if it were a real-life scenario. This MTCNA training is only the beginning of the manufacturer’s official training scheme and is required in order to attend other MikroTik certified courses. MikroTik has multiple certifications directly related to network traffic optimisation, static routing, security, etc.

The initial course taught by MikroTik Trainer Carlos Otín is divided into nine training modules, each with its corresponding practical part in the virtual lab: Introduction, DHCP, Bridging, Routing, Wireless, Firewall, QoS, Tunnels and Misc.

Who is the MikroTik training for?

To participate in the MikroTik basic course in Mallorca and obtain this first certification it is necessary to have a good understanding of basic networking concepts, summarisation, TCP/IP and subnetting. Students should be familiar with concepts such as what is an IP address, netmask, DNS or Gateway.

The training is suitable for:

  • Network engineers and technicians.
  • Hotel network maintenance personnel using MikroTik.
  • Suppliers of this brand’s technology.
  • Students interested in furthering their professional training.
  • Companies that want to certify their staff.

After completing the MTCNA, students will have the opportunity to continue their training with MikroTik’s advanced course (MTCSE – Certified Security Engineer), which will enable participants to be able to plan and implement appropriate security measures in the networks they manage. This course, the only one of its kind in Mallorca, takes place over 16 hours divided into 2 days: 23 and 24 March 2023. In order to be able to take it, it is necessary to have passed the previous certification (MTCNA).

The MikroTik MTSCE advanced training is divided into six modules: Introduction, Firewall, OSI layer attacks, Cryptography, Securing the router and Secure tunnels. Each module ends with a corresponding practical part in the laboratory.

The MikroTik certifications in Mallorca by Hotelinking are internationally recognised and are an opportunity to be trained in the network and systems technology most used by hoteliers.
